救恩的信息抓住一个人,为要改变他,照着另一个形象来塑造他,使他与从前判若两人。保罗训勉信徒要“心意更新而变化”就是这个意思。 既然人是可以改变的,而神福音的大能又可以改变人,那最重要的问题自然是:人要改变成什么形象?以谁或以什么作人改变的模式? 人是失丧的,更在道德和灵性方面失丧,基督教信仰由始至终一直坚持这个事实,而人类历史亦证明了这个真理。我们内里的败坏使我们不可能有什么可以用来作重新做人的模式。因为人心比万物诡诈,坏到极点,依照自己的模样,即使是模仿最好的自我,最后也只会带来悲剧。 福音不但有重新塑造人心的大能,更为人的新生命提供一个可学效的模范,这模范就是基督。基督是神,行事跟神一样,却卑微地穿上人的身体;祂也是人,因此祂成了人性的完全模范,叫蒙了救赎的人可以效法祂。 借着重生与成圣、信心与祷告、受苦与操练、神的话与神的灵,人开始在本性上改变,悔改归正,从属罪恶的形象变为属神的形象,与神的性情有份。这改变的工作从没有间断,直到神所盼望见到的形象实现在基督徒心中。神在祂所买赎回来的儿女身上所作的一切,都有深远的目的。就是要他们至终在本性上恢复神的形象。一切的努力都是为了达到这个目标。

保罗曾经表示,他无论在什么景况,都学会了在属世物质上知足,这种知足的态度,绝不是属灵上的满足。保罗特别指出他如何在属灵方面感到不足:“弟兄们,我不是以为自己已经得着了;我只有一件事,就是忘记背后努力面前的,向着标杆直跑,要得神在基督耶稣里从上面召我来得的奖赏”(腓3:13-14),对世上物质生活知足,是圣徒的记号,对自己的属灵景况满足,却是内心盲目的记号。 基督徒最大的仇敌之一,就是灵性上的自满,对一个自信已到达目的地的人来说,再往前走实在是愚不可及的事;然而问题却是:我们尚未到达却以为已经到达,现在的人常引用圣经证明我们已经达到某阶段,但假如我们根本未曾有过经文所描写的真实经验,那是很危险的,因为知道真理却不遵行,与错谬相去不远,两者都是同样危险。那些坐在摩西座位上的文士,是自己教导的,却未曾遵行过的“真理”的牺牲者。 今天,在灵性上自满自足的基督徒比比皆是,这是一个征兆和预告。所有伟大的圣徒都有饥渴慕义的心,他们呼求说:“我的心渴想神,就是永生神,我几时得朝见神呢?”(诗42:2)他们竭尽心力追求渴慕神,这种渴求的态度推动他们向前行,往高处走。然而不冷不热的信徒只会对那更高之处,轻瞄一眼,因为他们根本没有想过要达到那个地步。 发现有人不惜任何牺牲,为要得到灵命长进,生命改变和与神有更亲密的经历,我们会很高兴。我们勉励这些人:要继续祷告、继续争战、继续歌唱,千万别低估神要在你身上施行的作为。要为神过去所做的每一件事感谢,但不要停在这地步,要竭力认识神深奥的事,尝尝救赎奥秘的滋味。要脚踏实地,又尽量让心志高飞向上。不要自甘平庸地向冷淡的属灵景况投降。假如你能够这样不断地追求,天门必定为你大大敞开,而你也像以西结那样,看见神的异象。 除非你自己这样做,否则,有一天你会不自觉地落到一个地步,过着死气沉沉的所谓属灵生活,这种生活,用“暮气沉沉,得过且过”来形容,最贴切不过。愿神拯救我们脱离这种光景。阿们。

我在日光之下看见一件恶事,它对基督教信仰的破坏是很严重的。那就是自称基督徒的人,在信仰实践与神学理论上自相矛盾。 在教会中,理论与实践的鸿沟是如此的大,以致偶尔有好奇的寻道者与之接触,就讶异得不敢想象二者有任何关系。精明的观察者,若与一般会众听完主日早晨的讲道再在主日下午留意那些早上听道的人所作所为,准会以为自己所观察的人是同时信奉两种截然不同的宗教。 一间教会的会众,听完一篇最属灵的信息,便大加赞赏,不到二十分钟,他们就从事最属血气的活动,好像较早前根本没有听过那篇动人的讲章一般,基督徒惯于为美丽的真理流泪和祷告,然而,在面临实践这真理,却遇见困难时,他们就退缩了。一般教会简直不敢省察一下自己所行与所传的是否互相矛盾,教会容让那些完全与神的旨意相违背的事情发生。 这样看来,似乎有很多基督徒都只愿享受“对”的感觉,却不愿为做得“对”付出任何代价。因此,理论与实践在口头上,虽然永远不可分割,但实际上却老是互不相干的。真理好像已被遗忘,这些所谓追随者誓言以不死的爱来支持真理,但却不愿为之付上任何代价。 究竟这是不是指主所说的意思:“按名你是活的,其实是死的”?这些人自称为基督徒,却习以为常地罔顾基督的命令,行自己制定的所谓“基督教信仰”,这对那些日复一日与他们相处的非信徒会有什么影响?这些非信徒会否因此断言基督教信仰是虚假的?以为基督教信仰是虚幻和不切实际,所以拒绝基督教信仰是大有理由的? 非基督徒在观察过他们所认识的所谓基督徒一段日子后,就发现这些所谓的信徒的言行矛盾,以致他们厌恶,并拒绝接受福音,其实责任不全在他们身上。假冒为善的宗教信仰行为对人心影响之坏,实在难以形容。 当那大而可畏的审判日子来临,审判全地的主以看透万事的目光察看人心,审判我们在信仰上言行不一、假冒为善时,我们将如何答辩?千千万万失丧的灵魂在世寄居时,由于厌恶他们所接触的虚伪基督教,因而徘徊于救恩的门外,这个责任该归咎谁呢?
