Image: Elisha’s Spring in Jericho. Tell es-Sultan (Sultan’s Hill) is the ancient city of Jericho, located 9 km north of the Dead Sea and 7 km west of the Jordan River. It’s an oasis beside the Wadi Qelt (Qelt Dry Stream) in the Jordan Valley. The local area has warm winters and is shaded by palm trees in summer. Elisha’s Spring (2 Kings 2:19-22, modern name Ein as-Sultan) provides water for irrigation.
