Our Beliefs
We are a congregation of the Christian Reformed Church in North America. Our basic beliefs are listed below. We also subscribe to the three ecumenical creeds (the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed) and the Three Forms of Unity (the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort).
- We believe in the one, true and living God, eternally existing in one single essence but three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who is the Creator, Ruler and Sustainer of heaven and earth and everything therein.
- We believe in God the Son, Jesus Christ, true God and true man, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross and shed His blood as an atonement for the sins of men, and was raised bodily from the dead. He ascended into heaven where at the right hand of the Majesty on high. He now is High Priest and advocate. He will return imminently and personally according to His promise.
- We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Counselor. His ministry is to convict men, regenerate the believing sinners, and to indwell, guide, instruct and empower believers for godly living and service.
- We believe the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, is the verbally inspired Word of God inerrant in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.
- We believe that man was created in the image and the likeness of God, but in Adam all men have fallen into sin, separated from the life of God, the just penalty for which is eternal death, and as sinners men are in need of God's salvation.
- We believe Jesus Christ's salvation provides the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe and trust in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross. Through faith in Christ, penitent sinners are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God.
- We believe that the second coming of Jesus Christ is imminent and will be personal and visible to judge the living and the dead, this glorious hope is foundational to believers' living and faithful service.
- We believe that the church is one body, consisting of those regenerated by the Holy Spirit and of which Christ is the head, expressing itself in worship of God, edification through the Word of God, prayer, fellowship, evangelism and service, and in observation of the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Communion.
